Program reading of KCD-701C motherboard (Replicated motherboard)
1) Power off the elevator
2) Adjust SW1=3, SW2=0 potentiometer of MC card
3) One connector of parallel ribbon data cable of MC card to connect PX interface of KCD-701C motherboard, the other connector to connect MC card
4) Turn on the switch ‘FWR’ on the board (↓)
5) Power on the elevator, meanwhile, the program reading is in progress
6) If program reading finished, power off the elevator, and then pull off connector of parallel ribbon data cable from KCD-701C motherboard (The program has been read into the MC card)

Program writing of KCD-701C motherboard (Targeted motherboard)
1) Power off the elevator
2) Adjust SW1=5, SW2=0 potentiometer of MC card
3) One connector of parallel ribbon data cable of MC card to connect PX interface of KCD-701C motherboard, the other connector to connect MC card
4) Turn on the switch ‘FWR’ on the board (↓)
5) Power on the elevator, meanwhile, the program writing is in progress
6) If program reading finished, power off the elevator, and then pull off connector of parallel ribbon data cable from KCD-701C motherboard

How to Restore Program of Mitsubishi KCD-1162B Board with MC Card (Service Tool) and MTS-II Software?

Reading program from old KCD-1162B board:

1) Keep the PP19 interface of KCD-1162B to connect RS232 interface of MC card, and then USB interface of MC card to connect PC with USB cable.
2) Adjust SW1, SW2 potentiometer of MC card at position ‘0’
3) Launch the software ‘MTS-II’ (MC card software), input the password.
4) Set KCD-1162B motherboard to enter the read-write mode: turn on both switches ‘FWR’ and ‘RST’ on the board, and check the indicator whether displays ‘FLS’
5) Select the ‘FLASHReadWrite’ radio button in Function block, ‘USB’ radio button in PC Interface block, and ‘RS232’ tab in the PCB Interface block
6) Double click on the ‘VFGLC’ button in the RS232 block of PCB Interface, select the ‘Reading Operation’ in the function block, and then click on the save file button to select a path to save the program file that is read from KCD-1162B board
7) Observe the number change of indicator on the board during reading, it is hexadecimal, and waiting for progress bar goes to 100%, if reading finished, the indicator whether displays ‘23F’, which means done, then exit the software.
8) Turn back the ‘FWR’ switch after program reading finished, it is important.

Writing program to new KCD-1162B board:

1) Keep the PP19 interface of KCD-1162B to connect RS232 interface of MC card, and then USB interface of MC card to connect PC with USB cable.
2) Adjust SW1, SW2 potentiometer of MC card at position ‘0’
3) Launch the software ‘MTS-II’ (MC card software), input the password. If this step is in need
4) Select the ‘FLASHReadWrite’ radio button in Function block, ‘USB’ radio button in PC Interface block, and ‘RS232’ tab in the PCB Interface block
5) Double click on the ‘VFGLC’ button in the RS232 block of PCB Interface, select the ‘Writing Operation’ in the function block, and then click on the open file button to select the file saved by reading operation, which means copy the program from old board to new board.
6) Set KCD-1162B motherboard to enter the read-write mode: turn on both switches ‘FWR’ and ‘RST’ on the board, and check the indicator whether displays ‘FLS’
7) Click the start button on the software to lunch the copy operation; Observe the number change of indicator on the board during writing, it is hexadecimal, and waiting for progress bar goes to 100%, then exit the software.
8) Turn back the ‘FWR’ switch after program writing finished, it is important.

How to Decode the Password of Monarch Nice 3000 / 3000+ Board with Universal Decoder?

With the development of urbanization, the application of elevator in high-rise buildings is essential. The Monarch Elevator Control System is the most mature and reliable control system in the all-in-one system of elevator industries. The Monarch Elevator Control System is simple and reliable, and easy to maintain, but it has the password that makes the maintainer fall into difficulties. Monarch’s passwords are divided into user password, manufacturer password, implicit password (so-called dynamic password), and even super password. Today ElevatorVip will teach you guys how to unlock / remove the password of Monarch PCB boards, the tutorial as below:

Step.1: Must be controller powered off.
Step.2: Then check the motherboard’s version: MCTC-MCB-B, MCTC-MCB-C1, MCTC-MCB-C2, or MCTC-MCB-C3?
Step.3: If the version is MCTC-MCB-C1, MCTC-MCB-C2, and MCTC-MCB-C3, please take out the MCTC-PG card first.
Step.4: Find the clip number U45 on the motherboard.
Step.5: Check the clipping of Monarch Decoder Tool, make sure the No.1 of pin (red cable) is existed.
Step.6: Make sure the No.1 of pin of chip U45 on the motherboard has the point label (white color point).
Step.7: To clip the chip U45 use the Monarch decoder tool, make sure they are matched proper.
Step.8: If the pin chips are matched proper, then the motherboard’s display is lighting on, and LED of COP, LOP, and two others are lighting on.
Step.9: Select the model function on the Monarch decoder tool (press the black switch).
Step.10: For MCTC-MCB-C1, MCTC-MCB-C2, and MCTC-MCB-C3 board is selected on model: NICE 3000+(15.00)?.
Step.11: Then press the green color switch on the Monarch decoder tool to scan the old password.
Step.12: When seen the old password, release the chip clipper and turn on the controller power.
Step.13: Then press the password into the motherboard by Monarch Service Tool (Key pad).

Some Valuable Experiences in Maintenance Methods of OTIS OVF30 Frequency Inverter Board (ABA26800XU1 and ABA26800XU2)

The model of OTIS OVF30 Frequency Inverter is an early equipped in the 300VF control system of OTIS elevator. Due to the service life is longer (at least 10 years), there has a high damage rate of ABA26800XU1(or XU2) in the frequency inverter. ElevatorVip has accumulated rich maintenance experiences in the past few years, now we are showing the experiences of maintenance and how to troubleshoot issue to everyone as below:

Failure 1: Power on works well, fault code: ‘X04A’ displays on the frequency inverter board, the UDX light flash alternatively, UDX relay switch turn on and off alternatively, and BRK light doesn’t work.
Fault Point: This fault is generally caused by an issue in drive signal return circuit of IGBT. Generally, it is caused by that R118-R124=499 ohmic resistance is increased, please just replace the broken resistance, which works well.

Failure 2: Power on works well, fault code: ‘X04A’ displays on the frequency inverter board, the UDX light flash alternatively, UDX relay switch turn on and off alternatively, and BRK light is on once, then off.
Fault Point: This fault is generally caused by the limit value of current sampling resistor is increased in the current checking circuit. Usually, the resistance value of R146, R149, or R152 is increased, please replace it, which works well.

Failure 3: Power on doesn’t work properly, fault code: ‘!04A’ displays on the frequency inverter board.
Fault Point: The OTIS Elevator Test Tool (TT) is needed to troubleshoot the fault, if there displays ‘M4-2-1’ on the TT, which the fault is ‘UDX not pickd nc’ means UDX replay NC doesn’t work normally or action incorrect, in final it was found that the resistors in R78, R75, R77, and R83 had deteriorated, after replacing the deteriorated resistors, it started normally. If the fault code is ‘UDX not pickd no’ means the R78 is broken.

Tips: The OTIS Test Tool (Part number: GAA21750AK3) is important tool during maintenance of ABA26800XU1 and ABA26800XU2, which is useful tool according to fault code to check the fault point at your jobsite.
